KEF is famous for its speakers, but the M500 headphones<br />
(and the KEF M200 in- <span style="font-size: 19.2px;">ears</span><span style="font-size: 19.2px;">) are the company's first attempt at tackling the headphone market.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-font-smoothing: subpixel-antialiased; margin-bottom: 10px; text-size-adjust: auto;">
It’s a bold move going straight in with a £250 pair of headphones, but out of the box the KEF M500s make a good first impression.</div>

The KEFs favour refinement and solidity above mega-enthusiasm, but that does prevent them conveying the intent in this track.</div>
<div style="-webkit-font-smoothing: subpixel-antialiased; margin-bottom: 10px; text-size-adjust: auto;">
Play Adele’s <em style="-webkit-font-smoothing: subpixel-antialiased; text-size-adjust: auto;">Skyfall</em> and the track sounds suitably dramatic. Vocals are smooth and refined<br />
<span style="font-size: 19.2px;">, too – an M500 tonal trait that means the M500s can still be your friend when it comes to harsh recordings.</span></div>
<div style="-webkit-font-smoothing: subpixel-antialiased; margin-bottom: 10px; text-size-adjust: auto;">
However, there’s a slight lack of subtlety. Even more affordable headphones such as<br />

The latest and greatest Dell XPS 13 recently arrived, and it’s frankly already been our favorite laptop for the last two years.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
This time coming equipped with the latest, 7th generation (<br />
<ins>Kaby Lake</ins>) Intel processors behind that same eye-dropping display and punchy keyboard we’ve come to enjoy typing on – now all within an optional rose gold frame – the new XPS 13 has wowed us all over again.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
And, much of that isn’t thanks to crazy innovations or fresh additions, but a few key refinements that help the XPS 13 stand out amongst a sea of laptops that are perhaps trying to change a bit too quickly. The XPS 13 is a tortoise surrounded by hares … only it’s got a rocket strapped to its back. </div>

Price and availability</h3>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
Available now through its website and several retailers, Dell begins the bidding for the standard XPS 13 at $799 (£999, AU$1,899) to start. In the US, that gets you a Kaby Lake, dual-core Intel Core i3 processor with Intel HD Graphics 620, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of solid-state storage behind an FHD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels), non-touch InfinityEdge display. (The UK and Australian versions come starting with an Intel Core i5.)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
If you want the touchscreen at QHD+ (3,200 x 1,800) resolution – and the two screen features only come as a pair – you’ll need to cough up at least $1,299 (£1,249, AU$2,499). That also nets you a dual-core Intel Core i5 chip, but sadly doesn’t up the storage or RAM capacity. Of course, you can choose to upgrade both of those components for extra cash. </div>

The latest rendition of the Dell XPS 13 has been out for a few months now, and since its introduction, we’ve seen it undergo complete transformation. Admittedly, that’s primarily Microsoft’s doing rather than Dell’s, with post-Windows 10 Creators Update patches fully in tow. </div>

,for example, brings performance improvements to Game Mode and – more importantly for Dell XPS 13 users – introduces an ‘acrylic’ interface inspired by Windows 7’s Aero Glass UI. Other enhancements include Cortana’s newfound ability to scan the camera roll and create reminders based on images (such as concert brochures, etc.) found.</div>

Design</h3>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
Frankly, there isn’t a ton to be said of the XPS 13’s design this time around, as very little, if anything, has changed. You still have the 13.3-inch display as sharp as QHD+ (3,200 x 1,800 pixels) with optional touch controls squeezed inside an 11-inch-wide frame. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
And, you still have the gorgeous, machined aluminum lid and base that beset a comfy, carbon fiber keyboard deck coated in soft-touch paint. Only this time, the lid and base come in rose gold – the salmon shade that’s all the rage in tech products these days – as well as the traditional silver option.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
The machine somehow measures even thinner than the previous generation, though only by a hair: 0.33 inches (9mm) at its thinnest point to 0.6 inches (15mm) at its thickest. For those keeping score, the previous model came in at two hundredths of an inch thicker at the nose.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
Dell has also reduced the weight of its leading laptop, but by such a small degree it would be impossible to notice: from 2.93 pounds (1.32kg) to now just 2.9 pounds (1.29kg) even for the touchscreen model. Short of a major breakthrough in the materials used to construct the XPS 13, we’re likely looking at the thinnest and lightest Ultrabook from Dell for a while. (Please, prove us wrong.)</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
All told, we’re still smitten by the XPS 13 design, and frankly we’re happy it hasn’t changed much, because it doesn’t have to. One small request: if Dell could at least center that bottom bezel-oriented webcam like it has on the new <a href="http://www.techradar.com/reviews/dell-xps-13-2-in-1" style="border: 0px; color: #0099cc; font-family: inherit; font-stretch: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant: inherit; font-weight: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration-line: none; vertical-align: baseline;"><ins>Dell XPS 13 2-in-1</ins></a>, that would be clutch. </div>

More ‘pro’ than the MacBook Pro?</h3>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
During our time with the new XPS 13, we realized an important point: this laptop can match and even surpass the new, entry-level<br />
<ins>13-inch MacBook Pro</ins> part-for-part. For 100 bucks less than Apple’s latest laptop, the XPS 13 offers a sharper screen, a stronger processor and the same amount of RAM and storage.</div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
Oh, and this guy has a full-size SD card slot. </div>
<div style="background-color: white; border: 0px; color: #333333; font-family: "Open Sans", sans-serif; font-size: 16px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: 1.5; margin-bottom: 1em; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline; width: 922px;">
The MacBook Pro? You’ll get one more Thunderbolt 3 port – one of which needs to be used for charging – and little else for its starting price. On paper, it seems like the XPS 13 will give you a better time editing photos and video than its archnemesis. Well played, Dell.</div>

The price is right and it looks pretty great. The story of this collection goes back to the 1960s when Bulova was competing with Omega to be the official choice of watch for the NASA Apollo astronaut missions. Omega won that battle, but astronaut Dave Scott still wore a Bulova chronograph to the moon. That particular watch sold at auction a few years ago for well over a million dollars.</div>

In celebration of this fact, Bulova produced a sort of modern replica of the Dave Scott moon watch with the Bulova Special Edition Moon Watch Chronograph (INVENTOR). You can read more about the history of this collection, as well as that particular watch there. For 2017, a new member of the Bulova Moon Watch Chronograph family is here, and it is the Bulova Moon Watch Chronograph 98A186.</div>

The non-black-coated versions of the Bulova Moon Watch were offered in a technical-looking satin-finished steel case. The Chronograph 98A186 is IP (ion-plated) black steel, with a meaner, darker look and similar finishing. The black color compliments the look of the dial and overall design very well. It also helps visually reduce the mass of the 45mm wide case.</div>

One interesting aesthetic update is the use of the more vintage-style Bulova logo on the dial. This replaces the contemporary Bulova logo, and I think it was a good move since it compliments the more serious look of the watch and helps assert the vintage-vibe of this tool watch. I still feel that for the money, this is one of the best looking (most stylish) and functional tool watches around in this price category. The combination of brand history, interesting story of the model, and overall functionality + wearing comfort make this (in my opinion) an especially product.</div>

Inside the Bulova Moon Watch Chronograph 98A186 is a Bulova high precision 262Hz quartz chronograph movement. Perhaps the final design change you will see on the dial is the removal of the date window. Bulova said that fans of the collection asked for this, and the resulting clean looking symmetrical dial is lovely and traditional in its appeal. I think fans of the collection will truly appreciate that Bulova spent the time and effort to offer more than just a black version of the watch on a leather strap, but also focused on these minor, yet impactful dial details.</div>

The Bulova Moon Watch Chronograph 98A186 case is water resistant to 50m and has a sapphire crystal over the dial. I continue to like the very large style of chronograph pushers. The movement name continues to change at Bulova, but as you can see they are proud of the 262Hz operational frequency of the movement. This was once called Precisionist, and later UHF. The idea is that it is more accurate than standard quartz movements.</div>

In addition to the dial design updates and the black-colored steel case, the Bulova Moon Watch Chronograph now comes on a slick-looking black leather NATO-style strap. This is probably the most comfortable strap option for the Moon Watch Chronograph to date, and it has a quality feel to it and a high-end look. I'm not always a fan of NATO-style straps, but leather ones that aren't too long (meaning there isn't extra strap to tuck) are always appreciated for their design and wearing comfort.</div>

Bulova now refers to the Moon Watch Chronograph as a watch from their "Archive Series." They say it is the second one, which is a bit misleading as there have many watches which are based on historic models. I do however think this means we are only seeing the beginning of Bulova looking into their past and building new models for the present. The reference 98A186 Bulova Moon Watch Chronograph should be available soon with a retail price of <span style="border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit; font-family: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-weight: 700; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><em style="border: 0px; box-sizing: inherit !important; font-family: inherit; font-weight: inherit; margin: 0px; outline: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;">$595</em></span></div>

Close your eyes and picture the Samsung Galaxy S6, but the way you
wanted it to be, not the way it came out. Now open them and look at the
Galaxy S7. Better? Let's see.<br />
The Galaxy S6 was Samsung's response to growing criticism that the
design of its high-end models just didn't live up to their price tag and
market position. Okay then, a dual-glass sandwich with aluminum all
around is premium enough, but you had to live without the storage
expansion, replaceable battery and protection against the elements that
were all available in the Galaxy S5.<br />
The Galaxy S7 marks the return of the microSD slot and
water-proofing, and while the battery is still sealed (which doesn't
seem likely to change going forward), Samsung has been a lot more
generous with the capacity for this generation.<br />
Galaxy flagships have always led the way when it comes to imaging,
their cameras always being among the top performers in the market. This
time around, Samsung went backwards to play a different game of numbers:
fewer but larger pixels, all 12 million of them capable of phase
detection. Lightning-fast autofocus is the promise, and we've already
seen the S7 deliver on it.<br />
AMOLED has long since shaken off the stigma of being all punch and no
precision, to actually bring the best of both worlds. The Always On
displays are all the rage this season, and being able to light up
individual pixels has always made this specific technology inherently
suited for the job. "Why so late?" is probably the question to be
answered.<br />

<li>No FM radio (except for T-Mobile units in the US, so far)</li>
<li>No IR blaster</li>
<li>No stereo speakers</li>

The FM radio is perhaps gone for good, the assumption apparently
being that the jury has ruled in favor of streaming over the internet.
The IR blaster is another feature due for retirement - the S6 had it,
then the Note5 didn't, and now with the S7 the trend is clear.<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<b>Update:</b> A software update has enabled the FM radio at least on
T-Mobile S7/S7 edge in the US. It turns out the FM receiver hardware
has always been there and was just not enabled at launch. The T-Mobile
units are powered by the Snapdragon 820 chipset, so technically the
option is there for all variants running on Qualcomm's chip. Our
international unit, however, runs on the Exynos 8890 and so far we
haven't heard of FM radio enabling update (if there ever will be one).<br />

The design-conscious among potential buyers will likely be looking at
the Galaxy S7 edge, but that in no way makes the vanilla S7 the ugly
duckling. The S6's shapes have been refined, gentle curves have replaced
whatever sharp edges the old model had, the camera module now only
barely sticks out - in other words, the familiar design was improved and
refined.<br />

<br />
<br />
This is Apple like we've never seen before. Apple like we never
thought we'll see. To begin with, there's supposed to be no better
iPhone than the iPhone 6. That's the sort of thing you'd expect of
Apple. Come September every year, the world grabs a bag of popcorn and
gets ready to watch Apple's bestest iPhone yet come on stage in all its
glory.<br />
That's what we did too, minus the popcorn, which by the way would've
had nothing to do with the bitter aftertaste the presentation left. And
no, we don't mean Apple's live streaming blunder.<br />
Things actually started off nicely with the announcement of the long
overdue screen size bump, and we didn't get a cheaper option this time -
we were treated to possibly a bigger, better iPhone to go with the best
iPhone to date. How Apple - it takes another iPhone to beat the iPhone.<br />

<strong>Apple iPhone 6</strong></div>
It felt though like they're telling the audience, you don't have to
go to the competition to do better. We never thought we'd see Apple do
that - imply that. We missed the usual arrogance if you will. The kind
that preached that screens bigger than 4" are a nonsense. The kind that
insists on the retina resolution while the competition is at QHD.<br />
Rounded corners? 8MP camera? NFC? This must be year 2012. Apple's not
about cutting-edge hardware, but content and user experience. We've
heard enough of that. And hey, it's a valid strategy. But this year even
the most loyal iPhone users among us have a feeling they're being fed a
feature a year with Apple withholding significant upgrades that would
make the iPhone technologically superior, or equal to the flagships of
the competition.<br />
If it wasn't for the different looks, we'd say all we got this
September is another incremental upgrade, an iPhone 5ss, if you will.
And the looks - the phone looks gorgeous but once we picked it up, the
slippery curves made us miss the sharp machined chamfered edges. Gone is
the premium glass material on the back, replaced by cheap looking
antenna strips that can't seem to decide whether they belong to the back
or the sides. Oh, and the protruding camera lens - bumper cases will be
in high demand again it seems.<br />
Anyway, we're here to see how much better the new iPhone 6 is
compared to last year's model and we can start with a look at its key
specs. Who knows, we might succumb to its charms.<br />

<h3 class="article-blurb-title blurb-title-disadvantages">
Main disadvantages:</h3>
<ul class="article-blurb article-blurb-disadvantages">
<li>Has unimpressive screen to body ratio (the Nexus 5 fits a 5-inch screen in this size of a body)</li>
<li>No microSD slot</li>
<li>Pricey memory upgrades, 32GB version should be standard for such an expensive phone</li>
<li>No user-replaceable battery</li>
<li>Protruding camera lens makes the phone wobble if you don't have a case on</li>
<li>Camera is still merely 8MP four years in a row (granted, it's getting better every with every new generation)</li>
<li>No 4K video and video sound is still mono</li>
<li>Lacks the optical image stabilization of the iPhone 6 Plus</li>
<li>No enhanced resistance to liquids or dust</li>
<li>NFC functionality limited to Apple Pay</li>
<li>Rather pricey for a flagship (without carrier subsidies) that
misses some of the extras of the competition, such as stereo speakers,
wireless charging, an infrared port, or FM radio</li>
</ul>
Feel free to disagree - but the biggest upgrade Apple has delivered
in years has left the feature gap wide open - denying them their usual
excuse: "We do things our way, we don't care about anyone else's screen
size or resolution". And that list goes on to waterproofing, 4K videos,
lossless video zoom, OIS, high-res imaging, stereo speakers.<br />
Perhaps we started this review off on the wrong foot, so please
forgive us the rant. But the irony in it is that it was Apple's iPhones
driving the competition to heap feature upon feature in hope they can
steal users from the superior ecosystem and user experience which, we
must say, got even better with iOS 8. It now looks like Apple were wrong
about screen size. They're in a position to explain why it took them a
couple of generations to catch up to the screen size of Android... minis
- but still fail to match many of the intriguing features the
competition has been offering.<br />
The Apple iPhone 6 is not without its merits. It's just that this
year you have to look even harder to spot them. We like how iOS looks
and feels on a bigger screen. We love the curvature along the edges of
the front glass. The new chipset is more power efficient and yet gets an
edge on the 64-bit A7 chip in the iPhone 5s, both in terms of
processing power and graphics rendering.<br />

<strong>Apple iPhone 6 at HQ</strong></div>
We bet there's plenty more to discover as we put the iPhone 6 through
its paces in our usual review routine. Stick around to see whether this
fellow will be able to turn things in its favor. It will be a tough
battle, but we're more than willing to give it a fighting chance.</div>
